Programa resumido

O encontro da Europa e do mundo muçulmano. O Islão, o Império Otomano, as Cruzadas e o encontro/confronto com a Cristandade.
A era imperial e a presença europeia no Médio Oriente depois da I Guerra. A época dos mandatos (1920-1947) e as relações no pós-II Guerra. O declínio da influência europeia após a II Guerra.
As grandes questões do relacionamento actual entre a Europa e o Médio Oriente. O Diálogo Euro-Árabe. A Parceria Euro-Mediterrânica da EU. O conflito israelo-palestiniano e a Europa.
Dinâmicas e tensões das relações entre o Islão e o Ocidente: a evolução das comunidades muçulmanas no Ocidente.
As dinâmicas da identidade islâmica na Europa.
A Europa: terra do Islão? Da Arabização à Islamização. Como ser Muçulmano na Europa. Integração vs. comunalismo. O Islão como factor de identidade e afirmação dos Muçulmanos. As instituições islâmicas.
Estudos de casos de países europeus. Grã-Bretanha, França, Alemanha, Itália, Bélgica, Holanda e os países escandinavos.
A lógica da "Jihad global" e as comunidades islâmicas na Europa.
A Turquia e a Europa.

Objectivos
  • Estudar as dinâmicas das relações entre o Médio Oriente e a Europa desde a época colonial
  • Compreender o Islão na Europa com base nas políticas religiosas e das comunidades
  • As comunidades islâmicas na Europa: entre a afirmação comunitária e a crise social




Método de avaliação

Dois trabalhos individuais a apresentar na aula e por escrito.
